I don't know if I made this comment here or not (I think I said this on tumblr already), but I agree. They look more like actual people now, the old drawing (while it's still good in a lot of ways) is more cartoonish. I like the term "cartoon shorthand" you used elsewhere, that sums it up pretty well. I like the extra details/realism in the second image. It fits the story a lot better, especially since you opted not to use any sort of internal dialogue (thought bubbles or whatever) for any of the characters

Also, when is TJ gonna get a jacket like that? Does he ever? When they finally get up north I guess, heh

That completely makes sense. I mean, in the old one TJ looks like some majorly badass, mean biker dude, and Amal looks like a wussy scrawny kid in a baggy sweatshirt. You definitely show TJ's laid-back side and Amal's warm heart better in the new image.

Yep! Plus Amal looks... stronger and more relaxed and less angry, while TJ seems... less dazed and melancholy. I love the newer Amal details around the nose and mouth. Top lip looks a lot more kissable.

I was like, "Um, this is like the exact freakin same." and then I looked. Nice improvement, I like how you removed the detail between the mouth and the cigarette. Makes it more cartoony, but looks better and less duck facey. :thumbsup:
