So, Shousetsu Bang Bang, a webzine for original slash fiction, is doing this... thing... for their 20th issue, where instead of illustrating preexisting stories, artists submit drawings, and then the writers pick one to draw a story from. Cool, huh?

I'm not a big fan of just drawing people standing there, so it's been a fun exercise to cook up one-shot original characters and put them in a very specific time and situation. The only restriction I put on these was they had to depict two men in a NON-romantic context. Because I like making things difficult for writers or something.

All quick sketches, about 30 minutes each, not counting scan and cleanup. Seems the more of these I draw, the further back in time they get. Fine by me.

The deadline isn't for another 6 days... hmm, what next?

Hm, yeah, last one is my favorite, too. :) But they are all awesome. Would you mind linking me to the Shousetsu BB post with the rules in it? ^^

Hmmm, I really really like these... I'm having a lot of fun imagining their stories. :'D
Great job, especially on the last one. There's a lot of possibilities there.

I should try doing this sometime...

lessee, the old guy at the bottom is the young guy's commander, and he just told a really randy story about him and some other guys back when they were drunk in school, ending with something like, "but that's what all boys do - why I bet YOU did - hell we could even do it now!" and the younger one is a little in shock. possibly because he has the same inclinations and has never heard anyone speak so openly of them before. but the older guy is in a little bit of a pain delirium (his leg being injured) so his inhibitions are down, and...

man, I could do this so easy. great pictures. you should do more. XD

I think the last one has the most potential for a story.

only because I've heard to many cliched sports stories. If I see one more inspirational movie about an underdog team and the coach that really cares...

three of the hardest things to write about well are music, sex, and sports. i'd be interested to see what people do with the bicyclists and the baseball players.

I absolutely adore the look on the face of the soldier in the last one. The...union soldier? I'm so dumb xD

Yup, the one without a mustache is a Union Pvt and the one with the mustache is a Confederate artillery sergeant

but then I read the descrip and I realize it's not Amal. :3

I shall call him Bob, since that's what his number says ;)

The bottom one reminds me of All Quiet on the Western Front  although it kinda looks more cival war-ish

I always like how natural and unposed your characters look [:

Oh WOW!!

Civil war guys as well as the 20's baseball guys...

I love the look on the face of the one with his back against the tree in that last one.

And there's all kinds of stories I could think of for the expression on the Bulldog's face. I love the scars and facial damage he's taken, there's so much that could be *there*. Wow.

30 minute sketches? i'm in awe.

*grins*

Hey. damn...

*headdesks* Now I *have* to write this one.

Good thing the sign up date is so far out, and now I'm really intrigued by He Blinded Me With Science for June.

30 minutes. I know I can do 750 words in 30 minutes and damn good ones with a real throughline and, man, does that picture have a throughline.
