I just found this via a blog talking about work environments and this was both amusing and a trip down memory lane. I'm not a waitress currently, but I have had waitressing jobs in the past. Bravo to you.

Sound life advice, that is. *headdesk*

(I love this comic. The pacing and expressions tell as much of the story as the words do, and I love that. The last panel is fantastic and the business tactics flirt vs meeting is brilliant!)

We were expected to flirt with the customers, but I suck at flirting or faking interest so I prob. missed out on a lot of tips that way :\

Getting into the art&design field is so risky. I myself want to get into it, but I know the hardships people face in order to get there. It's immensely competitive and it's basically a huge strain on your self-esteem.
So I'm probably gonna just play it safe and try to look for a non-artsty-but-still-able-to-attain-a-shred-of-sanity type of job.

I've been thinking about this a lot lately, should I go do the job that less motivates me and make good money or stick to my passion and starve? D=

Such a hard decision.

I think it depends on how many obligations you have. That is, if you have kids or have to support someone, if you have debts, etc.

It doesn't have to be an either-or proposition, though. I eventually got hired into a job that I like. Technical illustration isn't my passion, but if I had to do comics for a living I'd burn out.
